Dreaded Summer Hair

I love the summer. The sun, the heat, the sea, the beach...but my hair doesn't.

To naturally have this 'beachy hair' which has dried naturally from the sea salt just doesn't happen for me.

My hair frizzes, thickens and becomes untameable, especially when i go on holiday. So i tend to shove it in a bun on top of my head and forget about it.

I always use moroccan oil/cream on my hair and it works great throughout the colder months, but i am yet to find that product to help my summer barnet!

When the weather cools down, and i want to wear my hair loose again, the terror awaits. Dry and lifeless hair is now my problem (help!)

Vogue has posted the '12 best fall beauty products', including hair care and skin care.

L'Oreal's 'Mythic Oil' has had great reviews saying it is immediately absorbed into the hair and great for all hair types, leaving hair non-greasy and nourished.

My hair also doesn't appear to grow past a certain length, which has always been a problem for me wanting long luscious hair (but then, who doesn't!). I always resort to hair extensions!

A friend has recommended Lee Stafford's 'For hair that never grows past a certain length', claiming it has definitely made her hair grow longer. I will have to purchase it and see if it works for me! I have started to use my hair irons less in an attempt to help my hair grow, maybe this product will help stimulate my hair. Fingers crossed.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for hair growth/dryness?

Into the big wide world..

As Uni was drawing to a close, and the prospect of moving home was ever more apparent, i knew the one thing i HAD to do was to keep busy.

So i found myself a local job working with a Student Travel School. Working 7 days a week and keeping me out of the house till 11pm sure kept me busy. For 2 months.

I had an amazing two months, meeting people from all over Europe (mainly Scandinavians) and being introduced to new languages was fun.
Ever since, i have found myself being a hermit, in my room all day long feeling completely lost.
What do i do now?!

As much as i know the sensible thing would be looking for internships, i can't help feeling all i want to do is travel and go out and meet new, interesting people.

I am now understanding the 'confusing period' many graduates go through. But i know, soon, it will all make sense. Fingers crossed.

Portfolio Process

As part of my final submission, and for future reference, creating a physical and online portfolio was necessary. At first i was worried i wouldn't have enough to fill 25 pages! However my tutor ensured me i would, so i took her word for it.

I am a perfectionist when it comes to presentation and i am my own worst critic, so the selection process was a tedious one for me.

I found by creating a simple graphic design to run throughout my portfolio linked each page turn together. After many re-designs and re-arrangements i was finally happy with my outcome!

My next aim is to add to my portfolio through experiences and adventures i am excited to start!

Enter - Graduate reality.

London Fashion Week

With the chance of a free ride to London by Uni, we all jumped at the chance to visit London Fashion Week showcasing the a/w 14 collections!

The lack of entry to the catwalks didn't stop us from getting some great street style shots and inspiration!

The bright spring colours were out, bringing some life to the dull English weather,

PinksYellows and Reds were popular choice especially for statement coats.

I loved the vintage chic feel of these outfits, and the silhouettes are so simplistic yet glamorous.

We were able to view HEMYCA's presentation of their collection which was a unique experience whereby the models walked around a standing crowd and then resided within lit up instalments.

So for a free trip to London, it was quite successful, and an inspiring atmosphere to be involved in!

Pure London Event..

Needing some inspiration and motivation to get on with my FMP, a trip to an inspiring fashion event was in order.

Pure London is a 3 day fashion event with talks, catwalk shows and stands showcasing brands and boutiques and a/w 14/15 trends.

A talk by WGSN was highly inspiring exploring the key garments, colours and details retailers should expect.

Other talks explored the future of retailing and online shopping which was all interesting towards my research!

Forecasting the future of retail debate and Melanie Press from Press of Primrose Hill discussing the move to selling online.

The catwalk shows displayed a variety of trends and colours to look out for including gypsy, primary colours and graphic industrial prints.

I felt this embroidery sums up my indecisiveness with my project quite well...

Spring 2014 Campaigns

I came across a Harpers Bazaar post about the top campaigns this coming spring,

Here is a few of my favourite:

I love Juergen Teller's work, have done since i was introduced to him in my photography A-level and this Celine campaign lives up to his name. The composition of the models and the colours used make it appear like a painting. Eye catching and unique with a classic photographic feel .

These Balenciaga images are stunning! I love the dramatic shadowing on the garments creating a crisp, sharp contrast. I also like the androgynous look of the model contrasting against the girly setting and dress in the lower image.

Quirky, surreal photography is my favourite. The colour palette and clean cut photography of this image is so eye catching and intriguing.

Kate Moss.
Need i say more.
Looking amazing still and now in her 40's. This natural, feminine and sexy photograph is simple yet when it's Moss, less is more.

Cara Delevingne looks gorgeous in this La Peria ad. I'm so intrigued with her chameleon looks (and jealous).

Can't wait to start shopping for my spring wardrobe 2014.

Here we go...3rd year

It's true what they say..3rd year is tough.

If i'm honest, I didn't believe those who said you 'won't have a social life' and even my tutor said 'you won't eat'..

The first few weeks, we enjoyed ourselves like we were freshers again, determined to prove these statements wrong, but it quickly dawned on us the fun was over and the work began.
+Dissertation synopsis
+FMP Research proposal
+Work based learning unit
+Dissertation hand in Jan 30th

Joining the gym was a bad idea at this time of year as i have barely been able to make it!

Over the summer i interned at a modelling agency in London, this gave me the idea for my Dissertation question looking at model choice and the effect on brands and consumers.

Hand in is in under a week now ahhhhh

Final Major Project

I can't wait to get my dissertation out the way and start focusing on my FMP now...

Here are some pages from my proposal, slight perfectionist when it comes to presentation!

Creating a twist on a fashion forecasting site, i intend to focus on creative direction for all creative types to gain inspiration from and to bring different creative types together. It would be interesting to see how they could interpret the same concept and translate according to their field.

I can't wait to get out there and start collecting information and inspiration to create my concepts!

first things first though...
